Would love this film to shatter box office records, but there just doesn’t seem to be enough hype surrounding it. Sure, amongst fans and film enthusiasts, but the reaction from the general public seems somewhat muted. Most people I’ve spoken to have never heard of it, the rest aren’t bothered because they think it’s all animated like Pixar. I think 70 – 90 million is pretty realistic, but i really hope I’m wrong…
I agree with you to some degree, the general knowledge about Avatar is still a bit low. But I hope – and think – that that will change. Fox has turned up the marketing the past couple of weeks and I’m expecting it to continue to build all the way to December 18:th. Hopefully everyone will know about Avatar come December 18:th.
Then you also need to wight in the premium ticket price they will charge for the 3D screenings and I-MAX.
